FAQs
Question: Will students learn faster if the teacher teaches entirely in Japanese? What language is used in Japanese language schools?
Answer: It depends on the student's Japanese proficiency level. If they've reached N3 or above, it's fine for the teacher to teach entirely in Japanese, and the results will likely be even better.
However, for beginners or those below N3, teaching in English or Chinese will be easier to understand and will lead to faster progress.
Many language school teachers in Japan teach in Japanese. However, school departments often have assistants who speak foreign languages, otherwise they might not be able to communicate with beginner students.
Some regular universities offer pre-university Japanese language classes lasting six months to a year. Students enter their first year of university only after completing their Japanese language skills training.
