NAYUMA Japanese tutoring

DSE Category C language subjects

Starting from the 2025 Diploma Examination, Category C (Other Languages) will no longer use Cambridge Assessment International Education papers. Candidates will instead take official exams in the relevant languages. The five language subjects include the existing French, German, Japanese and Spanish, as well as the newly added Korean. Urdu will be added in 2026. Under the new arrangement, as long as the candidate's score reaches the specified language proficiency level, it will be included in the Diploma Examination results.
Language proficiency level included in the Diploma Examination results report: Japanese N3 or above.

Refer to: Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority / www.HK01.com

Application Method

Candidates should register directly with the examination administration according to the relevant language examination schedule. Candidates can take the examination even if they have not attended the language courses provided by the institution. Each official language examination has a different score reporting system. Candidates' scores obtained in the specified language proficiency level examination or higher will be accepted as the results of the Category C subjects in the Diploma Examination. The Examinations and Assessment Authority will accept candidates' scores within two years before the Diploma Examination year. In other words, for DSE 2025, candidates need to take the examination between January 2023 and December 2024. For the results of the specified language examination, if a candidate takes the language examination more than once, whether at the same or different proficiency levels, the Diploma Examination will only use the highest level and score achieved by the candidate as the Category C subject result. These test results must be submitted to the Examinations and Assessment Authority before the specified deadline. Candidates will be notified of the deadline for receiving the results when they register for the Diploma Examination.
The registration method for Japanese is as follows:
Exam name: Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT)
Providing organization: Japan Foundation, SOCIETY OF JAPANESE LANGUAGE EDUCATION HONG KONG

DSE Course Textbooks

If you don't have a textbook, I recommend "Minna no Nihongo" which has eight books up to N3. Above N3, the focus is on individual, in-depth study of vocabulary, grammar, reading, and listening.

DSE Course content, time allocation, requirements

With passing the exam as the main goal, reviewing past exam questions will focus on improving students' weaknesses and improving their scores.
Time allocation:
👉Elementary and Advanced Textbooks: Complete one lesson in the textbook in 2 classes.
👉Intermediate Textbook 4 classes Complete one lesson from the textbook.
👆The above is just a reference. It is possible to fast forward or slow down the pace according to the difficulty level and students' understanding.
Require:
For example, whether make-up classes are needed before and after the holidays, etc. Students are requested to pay attention to the progress at all times.
Since this is an entrance exam and not a study trip, please take it seriously, complete your homework carefully and submit it on time every week,
And take at least 15 minutes every day to read the text and grammar examples.
